Cliftonville Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of Emma Higgins. The 87-times capped international goalkeeper arrives at Solitude from Lisburn Rangers and adds a wealth of top-level experience to the Reds' changing room. After spending her formative years with Ballymena United Allstars and Glentoran Belfast United, Higgins spent three seasons with Leeds United before undertaking a move to Iceland, where she played for Grindavik and KR. After returning to England with Doncaster Rovers Belles, a second stint with Grindavik followed with Selfoss providing her final Icelandic adventure ahead of a move to Glentoran Women in 2019. There, she was a key part of the Glens side that savoured repeated domestic success and regularly battled with Cliftonville on the trophy trail before taking a step back from football to concentrate on family and work commitments. Since joining Lisburn Rangers in 2024, Higgins – who made her first senior appearance for Northern Ireland at the age of 17 – has proven herself a standout performer in the Sports Direct Women's Premiership and all at the Reds are thrilled to this afternoon welcome her to north Belfast. Next fixture: vs Linfield (away, 2026-12-19) (8th in the table).
